William Grant Kramer & Nellie Orelia Boyle Family

William Grant Kramer & Nellie Orelia Boyle
Marriage:  10 May 1897 in Kingman Co., Kansas

I don't know exactly where Will & Nellie got married.  One of my records says they married in Kingman (city), but in those days folks living in the country frequently got married in the home of the parents of the bride or groom.

They were living in the area of Spivey / Rago, Kingman Co., KS

13 March 1903 Birth of unnamed son, twin to Iris.  He was either stillborn or died shortly after birth. Grandma Kramer said he was buried on their farm.  I don't know if the grave was marked or if it is still visible today.

I believe this was taken in a photographer's studio. The girls are dressed up. If you look closely at it's tail and body, the donkey is a prop, as is the background.

In about 1904, Will and Nellie moved to western Kansas, where Will tried to make a go of farming / ranching.  They lived in a sod hut for about 3 years.  Grandma Nellie Kramer talked about searching for buffalo dung to use as fuel.  She found 4 buffalo horns that she kept her entire life.  Grandma told of making dandelion tea.  She also said how barren the land was, and she didn't like it there.  They moved back to the Spivey / Rago area.
